TFB Review: SIG P320 X Compact

Let's face it - a lot of the Sig P320 pistols are bricks, even in the blocky world of poly-frame, striker-fired pistols. Off hand rapid firing at 25 feet yesterday nearly 100 rounds in the center two rings of the target just with the front sight. Not only did the aiming point remain illuminated, it held perfect zero. Since then, Sig Sauer has steadily expanded the line, providing a variety of options for gun owners. There is absolutely no vertical play, so it appears this gun has been tweaked on the inside as well as the outside. But, of course, that's just me and my reaction to them.

If I end up with the Glock 19 will swapping out the stock trigger connector have a negative effect on the overall reliability? I had expected to send it for modification like I did the larger X module, which I would say for me kinda sucked. When I shot both I liked the trigger and ergonomics of the P320 better and feel like I shot it better compared to the G19. Sig offers small, medium and large grip size frames to fit a wide variety of hand sizes. The full-house competition X-Five has the longest barrel of any P320 at five inches even. This one may actually meet all of them. It's also found some adoption in law enforcement as well as the military, with the M17 and M18 pistols - which are mostly identical to the P320 platform - currently in service with the American military. I did not conduct the usual velocity and accuracy testing: I shot these pistols and had others do the same.

Went out for a little therapy at lunch. On a 15-shot drill I often use for training, I was just as accurate but about 20 percent slower with the Romeo 1. The X-Carry barrel has the same locking block as a standard P320, but it offers a much tighter fit than on a standard P320. Dan has been an avid gun collector and enthusiast for several years. Flat triggers offer a few advantages. With an empty magazine inserted, the pistol weighs just under 27 ounces.

I like the medium standard module, just about right. Trigger pull on the P320 was always good. In 2014, Sig Sauer released their very first polymer striker fired pistols: the P320 series. Most importantly, he believes in the 2nd Amendment and strongly feels that all Americans should practice situational awareness and carry a gun daily. However, you must remove the extractor rod and springs to access the right screw.

Almost as frequently, editors assign writers to review and report on a gun of potential interest. They are very easy to grab and dig in well to your hands. The rear sight post is also designed such that if you had to rack your slide one handed, you can catch the rear sight post on your belt or shoe to effect a slide rack. Despite the P320 being relatively new, there is already considerable aftermarket support thanks to the parts it shares with the existing P250 pistols. I can definitely see the hype. The optic-ready slide is suited to for a Sig Sauer Romeo 1 or a Leopold Deltapoint Pro. Articles are most commonly generated when a writer sees a gun and queries an editor.

History has taught us that even though the pistol may have long staying power, the high interest may not. Chamber them in the big 3 self-defense calibers and call it a day. As far as the compact designation goes, the gun is on the smaller end of the scale when compared to other duty pistols. The sights are coarse, and by that I mean they are big with little light spacing on either side of the front sight when aligned. I could hammer steel and paper with it all day long. These glowing sights allow you to pick up front sight quickly as well.

When trying to precision shoot and when trying to speed shoot at the range, this led me to short stroke the trigger more than once, resulting in a click instead of a bang. I have an ergonomic complaint, but that will be for later. The first time out to the range with it, I shot 150 flawless rounds. In fact, if I were to start carrying it tomorrow, the only thing I would change would be the sights and maybe the aforementioned extended magazine basepad. With the military choosing the P320 as a new sidearm, this design will now forever be a part of American gun culture, and right now the P320 X-Carry is the ultimate version of this design for the concealed-carry market.

Very pleased with this purchase. Two of the standard 15-round units come with the gun, but it's compatible with the larger 17- and 19-round units if so desired. It actually feels slightly less to me as I can get a much better thumbs forward high grip with the Compact compared to the X Carry. You get two magazines with the pistol. Then, at least, I could have it milled to accept one while keeping the rear sight in place. I understand that has to do with space needed for a red-dot optic to seat properly however for those who carry inside the waistband, it is thick. The Carry model does, however, get 2 extra rounds in the magazine as compared to the compact model.
