The theatre originally sat 800 on the main floor and 175 in the balcony. Dave and I talked for maybe 15 minutes at which time I had decided it would have been very difficult for me to turn the Ohmann into a successful operation. The main floor has a seating capacity of 800, and the balcony seats 175 more. The agent I believe the listing term probably had expired put me directly in touch with Dave Reynolds — one of two owners. The building is 80 by 60 and 35 feet high, and is reached from the street by a corridor 75 feet in depth with a canopy over the walk. They closed it after they built their new five-plex now a six-plex} just seven miles away in the town of Newark. Of course, the movie screen was always there, lighting the faces of the finest actors and the most touching cinematic moments, from the earliest silent films through the talkie era and beyond.

You would have sworn it was an actual pipe organ. I believe the organ was an electronic model with a console built to resemble that of a real theatre organ, and it sounded good! The interior finish is of buff and oak. Finally, Lyons, like many originally manufacturing based towns, looked like it was having difficult times. So much of our youth, through almost any generation, was spent in the dark confines of a small town theater, watching a Hollywood flick while munching on some of the best buttery popcorn around. His sons Robert and Myron took over the management of the theatre together through the following twenty years. The Ohmann brought a sense of glitz and glamour to this rural community of then about 2,500. Robert continued to run the theatre as the sole proprietor and theatre manager until the late 1980's.

In 2005 his oldest son Bob brought the theatre back to the Ohmann family with a complete reconstruction. In 1980, the Ohmann family sold the theatre to Dave Reynolds and Thomas Crowley who kept it going until 1993. It has even hosted amateur boxing matches.
