Though authors often do not make the best readers of their work, this author's presence adds to the texture of the prose. The genre of the book is Drama, War Story, Historical Fiction. It made me appreciate the freedoms I enjoy daily and take for granted. Both friends spend most of their time in kite fighting in the tranquil city of Kabul. It gave me an extraordinary sense of what Kabul was like before the Soviet invasion and after the Taliban took over. Pi finds himself alone in a lifeboat, his only companions a hyena, an orangutan, a wounded zebra, and Richard Parker, a 450 pound Bengal tiger. It is however, beyond all else, a tale of wounds and scars, both self-inflicted and not.

It makes you appriciate all that you have. The story of the novel moves around the friendship status of Amir and Hassan. I was hooked from the beginning - it is a hauntingly good book and although it is set in troubling times it looks at the very real human problems that happen to individuals caught up in uneasy times. This book is very graphic with a lot of violence. I have listened to the The Kite Runner again and again to be transported to Hosseini's Afghanistan and can appreciate it all the more because of his authentic pronunciations. It is about the bonds between fathers and sons, and the power of fathers over sons - their love, their sacrifices, and their lies.

The Kite Runner

the kite runner audiobook

Written against a backdrop of history that has not been told in fiction before, The Kite Runner describes the rich culture and beauty of a land in the process of being destroyed. The Story is what I would recommend this book for. Sure it doesn't sound like a great subject, but it really is. The story is told through the eyes of Amir, a young boy who finally faces his own guilt from the past and seeks to honor his family. Although this book is one of my favorites thus far, at one point, I almost stopped listening to it- because it made me so mad. Summary A Stunning Novel of Hope and Redemption Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of the monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable and beautifully told story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Raised in the same household and sharing the same wet nurse, Amir and Hassan grow up in different worlds: Amir is the son of a prominent and wealthy man, while Hassan, the son of Amir's father's servant, is a Hazara -- a shunned ethnic minority.

The Kite Runner

In the first part of the story, Amir is still a boy in Afghanistan, who has a passion for flying kites. Amir's relationship with Hassan is heartbreaking and satisfying, alternately confusing and then brought into crystal clear focus by a plot turn. An excellant choice because I think the words would have been hard to do and the author's accent was authentic which added to the whole feel. It offers a blunt and sad insight into the realities of life for one Afghani family amongst increasing terror and war in Kabul. The author is the reader, but it turns out great! When Pi is 16, his family emigrates from India to North America aboard a Japanese cargo ship along with their zoo animals bound for new homes. It mad me completely appreciate my life. Sed aliquam, urna ut sollicitudin molestie, lacus justo aliquam mauris, interdum aliquam sapien nisi cursus mauris.

Donec in tortor in lectus iaculis vulputate. I ended up being relieved when it was over, and confused about what everyone else seems to love about this book. I would only reccommend this to people with strong stomaches that don't mind being disturbed. I jumped in with both feet and lived the sad saga of Amir and bled a little each time someone or something let him down. The author as the narrator gives the story such powerful authenticity - his accent and correct pronunciations have enriched my experience of this moving story tremendously. I feel this is a must-read for everybody.

The striking feature of this novel is the awareness of fate and justice, and how one can overcome evil in the end, regardless of what had happened before. The author tells the story about how one of the friends commits betrayal of trust towards his best friend. The plotting has both predictable turns, and surprising ones where the author refuses to take the easy way out. A Stunning Novel of Hope and Redemption Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of the monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable and beautifully told story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. The ending surprised me, which is rare lately.

The son of a zookeeper, he has an encyclopedic knowledge of animal behavior and a fervent love of stories and practices not only his native Hinduism but also Christianity and Islam. Standout Author Narration We've learned the hard way that authors don't always make great narrators, but Khaled Hosseini is remarkably gifted in both roles. On this page, you will find the audiobook tracks for The Kite Runner. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. I did not like the book at first. A compelling story, read by the author, that is not predictable and will have you listening to every word.
